• What does a Postpartum Doula do?

I care for mothers during the postpartum period, providing non-medical support. Minimising stress is different with every mother and I like to take the time to debrief with you upon each meeting and prioritise the things that will help you most each visit.

    The role includes:

    • Taking baby while you sleep or take a break

    • Debrief, emotional support and guidance

    • Feeding (bottle)

    • Visits and Boundaries

    • Matrescence and the transition to motherhood

    • Preparing nutritious foods and snacks or sourcing meals

    • Light house tasks, tidying/laundry

    • Providing evidence based info on all things newborn/postpartum

    • Connecting you with our personal network of postpartum professionals

    • And much, much more!

  • Why is support so vital?

Without vital support, rest and healing time, the higher the risk of:

    • Postpartum Depletion (the combination of physical/hormonal and emotional depletion that a mother can experience after giving birth) sometimes lasting up to ten years

    • Postpartum depression/anxiety

    • Conflict in relationships

    • Lacking sense of self

    • Poor mental health

    • Increase in stress/cortisol levels means decrease in oxytocin, essential for breastmilk production and so much more

    • Feeling disconnected from baby

  • "Kate knew what I needed even if I didn't. Having Kate was an absolute game changer and I just wish I had found similar service with my first"

    -Bek, Holding Mum Client

Not only did Kate allow me rest and baby care, she TRULY listened to my heart. I finally felt understood in my needs. We discussed my diet, my postpartum lifestyle (if you can call it that) what I needed more of and most importantly she assisted me to connect with my values, my boundaries around rest and healing and recognise unfair pressures I had put on myself.

    I HIGHLY recommend this woman!”
